With a deep commitment to living green, we purchased a small farm in rural Colorado.
We raise chickens, goats and sheep for their wool, turkeys, ducks, pigs and all our own vegetables.
The old farmhouse is a work in progress.
We have done a lot, new porch and fence but the barn and garage still need some work.
We knocked out a bedroom to make room for a commercial kitchen large enough to keep us in bread and canned goods and are lovingly restoring the creaky wood floors.
As farmers we’re learning that working the soil, although backbreaking can be deeply satisfying. And that having a connection to our food is building a self-confidence and a feeling of security in our family that we’ve never before experienced.
