My friend Caroline and I had never made “real” soap before.
We’d both wanted to try, but had put it off for various reasons. So she and I spend Friday morning standing in my garage in the freezing cold mixing, melting ingredients and waiting for our soap to trace. It was nothing short of magical. Seriously. And I can’t believe I waited so long to try it.

Cold windy weather blew into to our part of the world this morning. We’re expecting our first frost tonight, so Paul and I have been pulling up tomato plants all morning. At least a dozen tomato plants are hanging upside down from the rafters in the garage. We’ve been told by several people that the fruits will ripen this way. We’ve got our fingers crossed.
